    4. How to submit a sitemap to Google Search Console?

Well, these are the few related questions on sitemaps which makes you clear about everything related to GWT & Sitemap.

    How to add a sitemap

    #01 What is a Sitemap?

A sitemap is the data of your website or blog organized in a well-structured form especially in the form of Extensible Markup Language (XML).

To understand the term "Sitemap" let's have, word to word meaning of sitemap.

As the name itself has the words site+map and now you can easily guess their meaning site means your website (in a general way) and map means the overall structure or address of the website.

So now you may get these terms site & map which are nothing instead of the structured URL list data of websites or blogs in the form of XML.

Talking on more about a sitemap then it becomes important to tell you about the types of sitemap.

So basically there are only three types of sitemap which can be seen which are:

    1. Pre Sitemap - Sitemap used before website
designing or used during the planning of a website by its designers.

    2. Live Sitemap - It is a human viable sitemap present on the website page for the easiest way to explore the website or typically a kind of human visible listing of web data, in a hierarchical manner.

For better understanding see this page of our blog. "Example of Hierarchical Sitemap"

    3. Post Sitemap (XML Sitemap) - These sitemaps are actually the most important sitemaps for each and every blog and website. Basically, an intended web data generated in the form XML to allow crawlers to crawl the website which is submitted to webmaster tools.

To learn more about the sitemap in detail please refer to this source: Site map

Why an XML Sitemap is important for a website or a blog?

Well, as I told you in the above paragraphs that sitemap is responsible for your website online presence.

When you are done with the contents on your website or want to see your website on Google Search Console.

Then, in that order, you need to submit an XML sitemap for your blog or website to Google Webmaster Tool (other webmaster tools like Bing Webmaster Tool, Yandex Webmaster Tool, etc.)

So basically to have a proper listing of your web data such as pages and posts, submitting the XML sitemap is important.

What happens if the sitemap is not submitted?

Creating a new website is easy after having a detailed ultimate guide but to make it visible on the search engines you need to inform the crawlers about your website.

If you haven't submitted the sitemap to various webmasters the possibility of appearing your website on the search engine is less than 0.5 out of 1.

Clearly without submitting the sitemaps its be very hard to make a website visible on the searches.

Maybe after sometimes (~ 3 or 4 months) somehow few pages of the website are visible on the web but after that also full website data are not visible.

This is only because of the unavailability of a sitemap of the website or a blog.

To overcome this unwanted problem you need to submit the sitemap of your blog or website to the search console.

#02 What is a Google Search Console?

Google Search Console (formerly known as Google Webmaster Tool) is a free web tool for webmasters that helps to monitor, troubleshoot and maintain the presence of blogs and websites in the google search results

Actually, it is not necessary to sign up for Google Webmaster Tool to make your website appear in Google searches.

But having a GWT account gives you more power to manage and maintain your blog and website live.

But if you don't want to have a GWT account still you can request your website pages or posts to be crawled by the given below syntax.

To submit a particular URL without having a GWT account you need to enter this ("http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl").

Don't forget to replace "addurl" with your own URL to which you want to add.

Note - Submitting your link to google through this URL submission method is not so much working may you face problems in doing that so I suggest you go with the GWT account method.
